Five Photo Challenge

Julia Engel, one of my favorite bloggers and the creator of Gal Meets Glam, threw together 6 Ideas for Reflecting on a Full Year. The post is filled with wonderful ways to look back on 2017 and celebrate your accomplishments, as well as recognize your blessings.

One of my favorite suggestions from the post was to scroll through your phone or computer and pick out the top five moments/pictures from the year. As someone who really loves taking pictures, this one in particular caught my attention.

I decided to accept the challenge and share my favorite moments captured from 2017. While it was hard for me to limit it to just five, I sure did do my best. I hope you enjoy the post as much as I enjoyed putting it together!

1. Chicago, August

We’ve made it a family tradition that each year on my dad’s birthday we get Cubs game tickets for the whole family. We like to make a day of it; we drive to the city in the morning and park it at our favorite spot in Wrigleyville where we fill up on beer, bar food, and good times. We make our way to the game, and 9 times out of 10 will see our lovable losers blow it in the 7th inning! Nonetheless, it’s one of my favorite traditions, and something I’ll always look forward to in the upcoming years.

2. Indianapolis, September

This past September, I had the privilege of standing beside my sister as her Maid of Honor on her wedding day. It was such a magical day, and a dream come true for me! It’s hard for me to pick just a picture or two from the day because every step of it was such a joy. I will cherish those memories for years to come, and I can’t wait to print these out for display.

3. Wisconsin, October

As I mentioned in another post, we have a cottage in northern Wisconsin on a small lake called Palmer. My grandpa used to travel to the same lake as a boy with his family by train for vacations. When he got married and had a family, he bought a cabin which is still in our family today.  I can’t wait for the day that I have kids myself and can bring them to my favorite place on earth.

This past fall, we ventured up north and I got to see the place I’ve been going to my entire life in a whole new way.  This picture was captured the day that we were leaving. I woke up early that chilly morning to sit at the end of the dock and watch the sunrise. I sipped my cup of hot coffee and enjoyed the peaceful silence as the sun peaked over the trees. It was such a wonderful conclusion to our trip.

4. Lafayette, November

I love this picture, blur and all! This was taken at my house’s fall formal; what a great night with the best of friends. And is it just me, or is this so 70’s-mod? Love it!

5. Broad Ripple, December

I couldn’t think of a better way to wrap up 2017 than a Christmas party with the family at my sister’s newly bought home! It was a merry night of family fun and feasting. The best part is that McCaela and her husband have decided to make this an annual tradition! I am so beyond thankful for the people I get to call family, and I can’t wait for the many years to come.

I have truly loved this five photo challenge, and I hope to make it an annual occasion for me. Each year, I think it’s a great idea to look back and reminisce on the good times. I hope you will consider doing the same!
